Ahead of Open Enrollment beginning November 1, Pennie partners with a local farm to help Pennsylvanians navigate health coverage access with an interactive five-acre corn maze and Pennie-certified Assisters to answer your questions.
Harrisburg, PA – Pennie, Pennsylvania’s official health insurance marketplace, has partnered with Valley Fruits & Veggies to bring health coverage education to the Lehigh Valley this fall through a one-of-a-kind, Pennie-designed corn maze. The farm is located in Bath, PA Northampton County, which is in a region with a large population of uninsured Pennsylvanians. Open now through the end of October, visitors will be invited to enjoy a family, fall activity while also learning about the importance of health coverage and health care services made more accessible and affordable with Pennie.
Pennie is increasing awareness about the upcoming Open Enrollment Period early this year by meeting Pennsylvanians where they are. When it comes to your questions, Pennie-certified Assisters will be all ears on location. They can answer questions, schedule enrollment appointments, and help visitors understand their health coverage options through Pennie.
“Eating fruits and vegetables and having coverage are two key pieces of getting and staying healthy. We are very excited for this opportunity to ensure the Lehigh Valley community has important information on their health care options,” said Pennie Executive Director Devon Trolley. “For many Pennsylvanians, having health coverage provides important financial protection while helping them access preventive care, screenings, prescription medications and other health care services that can help them stay healthy and address health concerns before they become emergencies.”
Health coverage can be particularly important for farmers, agricultural workers and small business owners, who may not have access to employer-sponsored insurance. Pennie regularly hears from farmers and small business owners across Pennsylvania who say that Pennie has become a lifeline, ensuring they have coverage and access to the medical care they need.
Currently, four out of five Pennie enrollees qualify for financial savings to help lower the cost of their health coverage. In the Lehigh Valley region alone, approximately 38,000 uninsured Pennsylvanians may qualify for financial savings and may be able to find affordable coverage through Pennie.
Pennie’s Open Enrollment is just around the corner. The 2027 Open Enrollment Period begins November 1st with December 15th being the deadline for coverage beginning New Year’s Day.
All health plans available on Pennie provide access to a wide range of medical services, including hospitalization, prescription drugs, maternity care, mental health services, and much more. Health plans are from the top insurance companies and must cover care for pre-existing conditions, offer free preventive services, and provide important financial protections.
Uninsured Pennsylvanians should take advantage of Open Enrollment and apply at pennie.com and shop their health plans options to ensure peace of mind for 2027. Free, local help is available. Pennie-Certified Assisters, Brokers, and Customer Service Representatives can provide answers and guidance at no cost to the enrollee.
