Appeals
Filing an Appeal
You have the right to appeal final health insurance coverage eligibility determinations from Pennie.
Can I appeal?
You have the right to file an appeal if you disagree with certain decisions made by Pennie. Generally, you have 90 days from the date of your final eligibility determination to file an appeal.

You can appeal if Pennie said you were ineligible to:
- Buy a plan.
- Buy Catastrophic coverage.
- Get financial savings to help with the cost of your plan bought through Pennie.
- Are eligible for financial savings, but you disagree with the amount.
- Enroll or change your Pennie plan with a Special Enrollment Period.
- Get an exemption.
You cannot appeal if you disagree with:
- A billing invoice received from your health insurer.
- The date your coverage ended.
- Repaying financial savings used to lower your monthly premium, after filing your federal income taxes.
- A denied insurance claim.
- Information listed on your 1095-A form.
- How your health insurer applied your financial savings.
Even though you cannot appeal these issues, Pennie can help provide information about how you might be able to fix them.
