Pennie Extends the First Enrollment Deadline, Giving Consumers More Time to Get Covered by New Year’s Day

Dec 16, 2025

PA officials urge all Pennsylvanians without health coverage to visit pennie.com by December 31 to ensure protection starting January 1.

PENNSYLVANIA – December 16, 2025 – Pennie’s 2026 Open Enrollment Period is underway. Due to recent federal cost and policy changes, consumers will now have extra time to enroll in health coverage. The new deadline to enroll for coverage beginning January 1 is December 31.

Pennie, Pennsylvania’s official health insurance marketplace, is now open for all Pennsylvanians at pennie.com, offering quality health plans for individuals and families who do not have other coverage options.

To help customers adjust to this year’s federal changes, Pennie is extending the enrollment window, so consumers have more time to get assistance, review their options, and choose the plan that works best for themselves and their families. This year’s enrollment experience looks different for many Pennie enrollees due to several federal updates, including the expiration of enhanced federal tax credits, increasing the cost of 2026 health coverage. More information about these changes is available at pennie.com/whatsnew.

While the final enrollment deadline for 2026 is in January, enrolling now gives enrollees quality coverage and peace of mind that begins New Year’s Day. Pennie encourages consumers to not wait to see what Congress does with the enhanced tax credits. Enrolling now can ensure 2026 health coverage that best fits needs and budgets for next year. Should federal policies change at any point, Pennie will make sure enrollees have time to update and enroll in new health plans.

The extended deadline also gives current enrollees additional time to consider and shop for available health plans. All current Pennie enrollees must log into their Pennie account, update their information, and review their plan options. Due to new federal rules, enrollees will see stiffer penalties if their income is inaccurate. This means that keeping their account information up to date is vital.

Pennie remains the only place where eligible Pennsylvanians can receive financial savings, through tax credits, to help reduce the cost of health coverage. All plans offered through Pennie include essential health benefits such as hospital care, prescription drugs, maternity care, mental health services, and more.

Pennie offers free assistance in many languages to help consumers with the application process and choosing a plan. Pennie-certified enrollment assisters, licensed health insurance brokers, and Customer Service Representatives are available by phone, in person, or online. To find local, no-cost help, visit pennie.com/connect.

Pennsylvanians seeking health coverage through Pennie can visit pennie.com or call Pennie Customer Service at 844-844-8040. Customer Service is available Monday–Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
