Pennie’s Final Deadline Is Extended: January 31st is the Last Day to Enroll in a Quality 2026 Health Plan

Jan 7, 2026

PA Officials urge all Pennsylvanians without health coverage to visit pennie.com to get protected during the Open Enrollment Period.

PENNSYLVANIA – January 7, 2026 – Pennie’s 2026 Open Enrollment is underway, and the final deadline has been extended this year. January 31st is the last day Pennsylvanians can enroll in 2026 health coverage. Pennie, Pennsylvania’s official state-based health insurance marketplace, is open for enrollment at pennie.com, offering quality health plans for individuals and families who don’t have other coverage options. If you or someone you know does not currently have health coverage, now is the time to act and visit pennie.com to explore your options to get enrolled.

“Open Enrollment is the only time each year Pennsylvanians can shop and enroll in health coverage that fits their needs,” said Devon Trolley, Pennie Executive Director. “Due to federal changes, costs are increasing but many Pennsylvanians still qualify for financial savings and now is the time to act. Enrolling in health coverage before the deadline can ensure you are not only protecting your health in 2026 but also protecting your financial wellbeing should something unexpected occur.”

Benefits of Health Coverage through Pennie

Pennie is the only place where Pennsylvanians can access federal tax credits to help lower the cost of health insurance. All plans offered through Pennie include comprehensive benefits such as:

  • Hospitalization and emergency care
  • Prescription drug coverage
  • Maternity and newborn care
  • Mental health and substance use services
  • Free preventive services, including check-ups and screenings

Plans sold through Pennie also cover pre-existing conditions and provide important financial protections against high medical costs. Health plans sold outside of Pennie may appear comprehensive, but often exclude essential benefits, including coverage for pre-existing conditions and preventive care.

New This Open Enrollment

Since 2021, Pennie enrollees have benefited from enhanced premium tax credits provided by the federal government to make health insurance more affordable. These enhanced savings expired on December 31, 2025. The cost increases vary widely across the state with many Pennsylvanians continuing to qualify for some financial savings. The best way to know what your coverage options are for 2026 is to visit pennie.com to receive an estimate of your potential savings. If you are uninsured, the Pennie Savings Calculator can show you your plan costs and financial savings in under 5 minutes.

Act Now:

Uninsured Pennsylvanians should visit pennie.com to explore coverage options and apply for financial savings. Current Pennie enrollees must log into their accounts, update income information, and shop plans. Plans and prices change every year, and accurate income information is especially important this year due to recent federal changes and increased penalties for outdated information.
