Pennie Celebrates its Fifth Open Enrollment Period Starting Tomorrow, November 1, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Harrisburg, PA – TOMORROW – Pennie celebrates its fifth Open Enrollment Period starting tomorrow, November 1, 2024, for the 2025 coverage year. Uninsured Pennsylvanians are encouraged to join the over 435,000 customers who have found peace of mind and financial protection by enrolling in health coverage through Pennie.

Open Enrollment is the annual opportunity for Pennsylvanians who need health coverage to find high-quality health plans at the lowest costs at pennie.com. Pennie is Pennsylvania’s official health insurance marketplace, and the exclusive source for financial savings to lower monthly premium payments or out-of-pocket costs.

“If you need health coverage, Pennie is the place to start. Open enrollment is such an important time – if you wait to get sick or injured, it will be too late to enroll in a health plan. Be sure to check in with your family and friends to make sure they are protected too,” said Pennie Executive Director Devon Trolley. “Pennie serves as a trusted and objective way to compare health plans options that provide peace of mind in the case of illness and injury. We want all Pennsylvanians to have the protection afforded by high-quality health coverage and Pennie is here to help you find it.”

Pennie is available for anyone who does not get health coverage from their employer or through a government program like Medicaid or Medicare. Nine out of 10 Pennie customers qualify for on-the-spot tax credits and save more than $500 a month on average on their health plans. The tax credit amount is based on household income.

Plans and prices change every year. If you have looked at Pennie before, now is the time to look again to see what health plan options you have for 2025. For current Pennie enrollees, Open Enrollment is when you can update any household changes and shop for other health plan options.

All health plans available on Pennie provide access to a wide range of medical services, including hospitalization, prescription drugs, maternity care, mental health services, and much more. Health plans are from the top insurance companies and must cover care for pre-existing conditions, offer free preventive services, and provide important financial protections. Some plans available outside of Pennie claim to have these full protections but not all of them do. Enrolling through Pennie is the only way to be certain that you will have the highest protection against medical costs if you get sick or injured.

“We want Pennsylvanians to know that now is the time to proactively find affordable and comprehensible coverage. This Open Enrollment period is the best time to explore available options and shop around to find the best plan for you, even if you already have insurance,” said Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner Michael Humphreys. “Pennsylvanians today have more choices in the Marketplace across the Commonwealth, so we encourage consumers to research and compare plans to find coverage that best fits their needs and provides robust benefits for themselves and their families.”

The first deadline is December 15th for coverage starting New Years Day. Pennsylvanians looking for health coverage through Pennie can visit pennie.com or call Pennie Customer Service at 844-844-8040. Pennie’s Customer Service Center is open from 8 am – 7 pm Monday through Friday and on Saturday from 8 am – 1 pm during Open Enrollment.
